Pond Maintenance For Optimum Health of Ecosystem and Koi

Daily:

  1. Open the HydroClean™ skimmer lid.
  2. Open the Hydro Vortex™ filter's drain valve - or turn HBV™ filter valve to "Waste"
  3. Remove the leaf net and filter brush rack or Stainless Steel filter basket (HydroSieve™).
  4. The pump will flush the dirty water from the skimmer out the waste lines.
  5. Rinse of the leaf net and filter brush rack.
  6. Close the Hydro Vortex™ filter's drain valve - or turn the HBV™ filter's multiport valve back to "Filter".
  7. Place the leaf net and filter brush rack (or Stainless Steel filter basket) back into the HydroClean™ pond skimmer or HydroSieve™.
  8. Place the lid back on.
  9. Total time: 2 minutes.

Weekly:

  1. Turn the pump off, the open the Hydro Vortex™ filter's drain valve - or turn the HBV™ filter's multiport valve to "Backwash"
  2. Turn the pump back on.
  3. Turn HydroFlush™ Valve to the "Backwash" position.
  4. When water exiting either filter's drain line runs clear - the filter is clean.
  5. Turn the pump off, close the Hydro Vortex™ filter's drain line, turn the HydroFlush™ valve back to "Filter", or turn the HBV™ filter's multiport drain valve to rinse.
  6. Turn the pump back on. The Hydro Vortex™ filter is finished.
  7. For the HBV™ filter, when the water exiting the drain line runs clear in the "Rinse" position - turn the pump off, turn the Multiport valve to "Filter" - then turn the pump back on.
